Insall-Salvati index
The Insall-Salvati index is the ratio of the patellar tendon length at its inner aspect (A), divided by the greatest diagonal length of the patella (B).
Caton-Deschamps index
The Caton-Deschamps index is the ratio of the distance between the inferior margin of the patellar articular surface to the anterior lip of the tibial plateau (C), divided by the greatest length of the patellar articular surface (D).
Patellar lateral tilt angle
The patella lateral tilt angle is the angle between a line drawn through the midpoints of the medial and lateral poles of the patella at its widest point (white line) and the posterior femoral condylar reference line (yellow line, from a more inferior image).
Trochlear depth measured
Trochlear depth is a measurement of the depth of the central trochlea (yellow line) from a reference line drawn between the medial and lateral trochlear margins (white line). The trochlear depth is typically measured 3 cm proximal to the joint line.
Trochlear sulcus angle
The trochlear sulcus angle is the angle between the medial (yellow line) and lateral (white line) trochlear facets. This angle is typically measured 3 cm proximal to the joint line.
TT-TG
The TT-TG is the distance from the middle of the tibial tubercle (white dot) to the deepest point of the trochlear groove (yellow dot), which is drawn along the posterior femoral condylar reference line (horizontal white lines). For demonstration purposes, the tibia at the level of the tibial tubercle has been superimposed on the image.
Patellotrochlear index
The patellotrochlear index is the ratio of the length of the trochlear cartilage overlapping the patella (F) divided by the greatest length of the patellar articular surface (D).
